In my opinion, no skincare routine or product can ever beat a good night’s sleep when it comes to having healthy, glowy skin. But obviously, easier said than done — in fact, I often do have trouble falling asleep.

So recently, as part of my self-care practice, I made it my personal goal to focus on learning and discovering ways to improve my sleep quality. I tried several methods and bought different products to try. In this blog post, I’m narrowing it down to the 3 wellness products that I’ve found to be the most effective and believe can be worth a try if you’re looking for ways to improve your sleep quality, too.

With a blend of memory foam and microfiber, this pillow by Coop Home Goods has significantly improved my sleep quality the past few weeks. The one I got is The Original, which suits back and side sleepers.

I like firm pillows but once in a while I want it to be softer, so the fact that I can remove or add filling as I wish makes the pillow perfect for that.

The best part is that it’s machine washable!

2. Tea crafted with Traditional Chinese Medicine herbs by Five Seasons TCM for insomnia, anxiety, and nightmare disorder

As a Taiwanese American, I grew up knowing that TCM herbs are extremely beneficial in various ways. But they’re often too complicated for me to fully understand or prepare for myself.

I needed something like “TCM for dummies” and I think Five Seasons TCM is exactly that! I was so thrilled to learn about them through Pink Moon. The brand simplified everything by packaging herbs into tea bag forms created for different purposes. I bought myself several to try, including the Lullaby Calming Culinary Tonic Bag, which is made to provide you with a more peaceful, deeper sleep.

I’ve been practicing gua sha in the mornings to increase blood flow and circulation, which actually helps wake me up, too.

But recently, during a random FaceTime session with my mom who happened to be at my grandma’s house, I learned from my grandma that using downward strokes on the neck before bedtime can help relax and calm the mind.

I gave it try and have not stopped since the first night because loosening that area really seemed to help me sleep better! Just be sure to always apply a body balm or body oil before you gua sha.

If you’re having trouble sleeping, I suggest giving these products a try before you start feeling frustrated (which may further worsen your sleep quality). I hope this is helpful — and if you have any other products you suggest I try or would like me to try, leave a comment below! I’m happy to discover new methods and tools and share my thoughts and experiences with you.
