The perfect pair of ballet flats: I had to get them in a second color!

If you’ve been following my blog for a while, you know I’m all about shoes that are ultra-chic and comfortable. No matter how beautiful they are, if they are not truly wearable, I will forbid myself from getting them. I’ve made too many mistakes and wasted too much money in the past — I will not allow myself to repeat them anymore.

I take my time to find shoes that are designed and made to last for years to come. Once in a while, I would go for something that’s trending but most of the time, I believe in classic, timeless designs.

For a long time, I've searched and searched for ballet flats that can function as my everyday go-to’s — something that is not too fancy for the playground (I have an 18-month-old toddler) but not too sloppy for meeting my clients or attending an event. And I’m happy to say: I’ve found them! In fact, I love them so much, I got the same pair in a second (and third) color. Read on to see how I style them.

JADA Square-toe Ballet Flat by Freda Salvador

Okay, first of all, you’re probably thinking: “Oh, gold is not my thing.” Well, I thought that too, but boy was I wrong. When I tried them on, they immediately elevated my outfit!

And guess what? I didn’t need to break them in! They were extremely comfortable to wear since the first wear. As someone who grew up getting blisters and cuts on the back of my heels, this was huge.

Handwoven by a community of women in Spain using 100% Spanish leather, these flats only got softer and softer since I started wearing them.

At first I was worried that the square-toe design would be less flattering than the usual round or pointy-toe styles I tend to gravitate towards but then I realized they still had the lengthening effect when I put them on. I have wider feet so I also find the square-toe design to be roomier and more comfortable. The cushion on the bottom, the footbed, is very well-padded, too.

Because I love the gold pair so much, I decided to get them in another color. For the longest time, I was debating between white and red. Ultimately, I decided to go for white because I knew it would go with everything I used to wear with my white sneakers (which, funny enough, are also from Freda Salvador).

The white is a fail-proof option and it goes with everything I own. I also just love wearing lighter colors in the summer.

If you’re still unsure of the square-toe design, the footwear brand also launched the ROMA Round-toe Ballet Flat earlier this year — it has more of the traditional ballet flat look but with the same comfort level and beautiful woven details.

When I saw them, I couldn’t resist. I just knew how comfortable the soft leather is going to be. So, I finally picked out the red ones this time!
