7 Asian women-owned slow beauty and wellness brands you will want to know about

I’m continuing my efforts of honoring Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) heritage this month by shining the spotlight on Asian women-owned businesses. This time, I’m featuring skincare and wellness brands. And in case you missed it, here are 5 slow fashion brands founded by Asian women.

Although I grew up in an Asian household, with my grandmother and my mom constantly telling me of the importance of using sheet masks or massaging my shoulders with a ceramic spoon (because that’s what my grandma uses sometimes instead of an actual gua sha tool), my appreciation for a good skincare routine didn’t actually start until after college. I guess I thought of their reminders more as them nagging at me and the rebellious side of me didn’t value it enough when I was younger. But of course, moms know best!

So here are some of my favorite sustainable beauty and wellness brands, including products that play a key role in my current skincare routine. Read on for more.

Founded by Lin Chen, Pink Moon is the one-stop wellcare shop that offers carefully curated sustainable beauty products. Every single featured brand uses natural ingredients with eco-friendly packaging and gives back to the community.

I love several of Pink Moon’s products but one of my current favorites is Over The Moon Perfume Oil — it smells divine! It is also reiki-enhanced with rose quartz and intended to call in unconditional love and self-compassion.

Founded by Angela and Ervina, doctors of Chinese medicine and modern-day alchemists, YINA means “harmony and beauty” — and is also a brand that offers both.

My favorite product at the moment is the Bian Stone Body Gua Sha tool that is designed to massage hips, legs, shoulders, arms, or anywhere on your body that needs some love and attention. I sit the majority of the day so I like using it on the side of my hips to boost circulation in that area.

If you’ve been following me for a while, you’re probably already quite familiar with sundays, the wellness nail care brand founded by Amy Lin.

Not only do they produce non-toxic, vegan, and cruelty-free polishes, but the brand also offers other clean nail care products, like soy polish remover and cuticle oils (my favorite), as well as sustainable candles.

A clean and cruelty-free skincare brand with formulas eco-consciously made, SUPEREGG is founded by style influencer and NY-licensed esthetician Erica Choi. The brand’s plant-based skincare line is created with the goal of restoring and balancing our skin to a smooth egg-like complexion.

I personally love the gel moisturizer and cream cleanser. In fact, I’ve nearly emptied the cleanser already!

VIVI Naturals is a wellness beauty brand founded by Claire Hui, who personally struggled with premature hair loss from stress.

The brand offers a collection of conscious products and my favorite is the two haircare products — Root 66 and CBDetox — which are both designed to give you healthier scalp and hair.

The recent trending brand on TikTok, Mount Lai is founded by skincare blogger and esthetician Stephanie Zheng. The brand uses the knowledge and wisdom shared from generation to generation as the basis for their products, including facial tools and clean skincare with ingredients used in Traditional Chinese Medicine.

I love using the balm with the gua sha tool but I’ve been using the acupressure spoon the most lately. It’s such an underrated tool in my opinion!

Founded by Divya Viswanathan, Taza Ayurveda uses ethically sourced whole herbs from India to produce its line of wellness products.

One of my favorite products by Taza is the Nighttime Facial Oil which features a super high count of saffron that helps reduce inflammation and redness. It can also be used as a lip oil and in place of moisturizer and eye cream!
