Shop Clean Beauty Bestsellers

This year, the top category of gifts I’ve purchased (and am still searching) is makeup and skincare products!

I realized a lot of my friends and family are beauty enthusiasts, so I know I can’t go wrong with what they already like — plus, I think skincare products are likely one of the “safest” gift choices to give, because I mean, can anyone really have too many moisturizers, lipsticks or eye shadow palettes? I think not!

In case you’re in need of some inspiration, scroll down to see what I’ve bookmarked and shopped this season.

Skincare tools by Mount Lai

I find it very soothing and relaxing to use a jade roller — or my recent favorite, the rose quartz gua sha tool — at night when I’m watching TV or while I’m reading just before bedtime.

Personally, I believe the tools help with ridding water retention in my face. But mostly, it de-stresses me so I see it as an important part of my daily self-care routine.

I think they are great gift options because even if the person you’re gifting already has one, they can still keep another in the office or pack it in their carry-ons when they travel.

Plus, the prices are not too steep, either!

Beauty brands that new to the U.S. market

One of my personal “tricks” to ensure I avoid getting something the person may already own is to shop from independent or up-and-coming brands. This year, I noticed a lot of beauty brands that are well-known and well-established in their home countries have just recently entered the U.S. market, making them a great choice for those who are not as aware of them.

paul & joe

Paul & Joe, for instance, has been pretty popular in both France and Japan. The packaging is beautiful so they make perfect gifts. And if the person you’re gifting happens to also love cats, Paul & Joe has the cutest lip balm cases with cat prints. One of my favorite products is their Makeup Palette Z that includes a salmon-hued blush and 4 shades of eye shadow, as well as 2 mini brushes. I think it is the perfect product to travel with.

ANNA SUI

Anna Sui’s beauty brand is another one that just entered the U.S. market. I personally adore this retro loose powder case — it’s just so dreamy and pretty! Imagine how good it looks on a vanity table.

DECORTÉ

If you’re willing to spend a bit more, I think Decorté is a fabulous brand to look into. I’ve known about this brand since I was a little girl because it’s really famous in Japan as well as other nearby countries like Taiwan, where my family is from.

Currently, I’m actually using the LIPOSOME collection — the serum, treatment liquid, and face cream — and honestly love how hydrating it makes my skin look even in the winter. (Note: I received the 3 products as a gift as PR samples.)

The Proud Flesh matte liquid lip color in Brazen is one of my favorite Flesh products.

Unique Beauty Brands

If you haven’t heard of Flesh, you need to check it out! It has a selection of various unique beauty products such as the Fleshpot Eye & Cheek Gloss, the Ripe Flesh Glisten Drops, and the Shimmer Dimmer Mattifying Stick, that all make great presents. They also have really nice eye shadow palettes, too.

I personally love everything I’ve tried so far (specifically: the foundation stick, highlighting balm, and the matte liquid lip balm), and think beauty lovers will adore this brand, too. (Note: I received complimentary Flesh products as gifts from the brand.)

For those who are into clean beauty, consider getting them skincare products by Josie Maran. The Whipped Argan Oil Face Butter and Pure Argan Milk are some of the brand’s best known products.

R2R Cosmetics, a client of my marketing agency Once Upon, offers multi-purpose vegan pots that can be used anywhere on the face, including eyes, cheeks and lips. The creamy formula goes on your skin smoothly and dries matte. My personal favorite hue is the coral color called Oasis. It’s really a universal flattering shade!
