Many of you already know about my obsession of “packing light,” and how I enjoy being able to put together different outfits with a few key pieces. In this post, I’m featuring the travel set by Marta Scarampi — or “the cape brand,” as I like to call it — in 5 outfits that are perfect for several different occasions.

Marta Scarampi is a client of my marketing agency, Once Upon. This is not a sponsored post; all opinions are 100% mine.

Based in both Torino, Italy and New York City, Marta Scarampi is a slow fashion advocating brand offering women sophisticated garments that are handmade in-house by artisans in Italy. They are known for their elegant capes (as seen on Glamour), but they also design blazers, dusters, pants and dresses. Although the price point may seem high, every piece is produced with carefully-selected, high-quality material and created to last for many, many years to come. The brand’s made-to-order system allows them to reduce unnecessary waste (like excess inventory) and be truly sustainable.

The travel set I’m styling today is in the Merlot Red color and features 3 key pieces: The Rachel Cape, the Laura Blazer, and the Laura Pants.

I think this set is a fantastic option for the #bosslady who travels for work, but especially for the modern-day woman who blends business with leisure when it comes to traveling.

I say that because the material used to make the pieces from the travel sets, called Mondrian, is wrinkle-resistant and smooth against the skin, making them very comfortable and care-free to wear. The pieces are formal enough for meetings or any work-related occasions, but also versatile enough to be dressed down for after-work hours and the weekend.

I personally know a lot of friends and family who sometimes extend their business trips to stay and explore the city or to visit people who live around the area, so I have them in mind as I create the 5 outfits in this post.

Scroll down to see the looks, starting from the airport outfit!

Look 1 — On the Plane

The first look features a black sweatshirt over the Laura Pants, and simple white sneakers. It’s the perfect outfit to travel in because it is comfortable, it allows you to move in ease, and it also keeps you warm on the plane.

When I need to jet off from the airport directly to a meeting with someone, I like to wear a layer under the sweatshirt so I can easily change out of my casual outfit.

Look 2 — From Airport to Office

With a simple long-sleeve black shirt worn underneath the sweatshirt, it is very easy to replace it with the Laura Blazer. And then layer over the Rachel Cape to stay warm whilst dashing off to the meeting straight from the airport!

In fact, during the photoshoot I did in West Village for these looks, that was exactly what I did when we from point A to point B. And of course, don’t forget to change into black heels — that’s quite essential when it comes to elevating the sophisticated outfit!

Look 3 — Office Outfit

For the actual in-office outfit, simply take off the cape, wearing just the Laura Blazer and Pants as a matching suit.

I really like the blazer because the soft material doesn’t irritate my skin, and most importantly, it doesn’t restrict my arms from moving freely. There has been a few times when some blazers would be way too tight around my arms because of stiffer materials they use.

Look 4 — Happy Hour & Dinner

Something in between work-appropriate yet casual chic would be the best combination for happy hour or dinner. So before leaving the office, change back into the black sweatshirt and layer the cape over!

I wanted to show off the sequence design on the sleeves of my sweatshirt, and the cape allows me to do so. I was actually quite happy about that because coats would have covered them up!

Look 5 — Weekend Brunch Date & Shopping

And then on the day off, whether it is to meet a friend for brunch or going shopping, style the Rachel Cape over a comfortable one-piece!

I wore the cape over a white cashmere sweater dress and paired it with tall cream boots. This look allows me to not only move at ease, but also to have a photogenic outfit as I roam around the city, which is a great big bonus when traveling!
