The 9 things I'd recommend to the mom friends I actually like

Motherhood has been many things for me, but one thing I didn't expect was the endless stream of recommendations.

"You should get this." "You'll want this." "You need this."

I always knew kids came with a lot of stuff, but after nearly 4 years of being a mom (and after buying many of those "shoulds" and "needs," as I like to call them), I've learned that there actually aren't that many products that are truly, truly worth recommending.

In this post, I'm sharing the things that survived real life in our home. We're not an especially minimalist family, but we do go through a serious decluttering session every couple of months. And these are the items that always make the cut.

They're the products that made our daily routines easier, simplified life in small but meaningful ways, and worked so well that I felt completely comfortable recommending them to family and my closest friends—the ones I'd recommend to the mom friends I actually like.

1. The Harmony Baby Carrier by BabyBjorn

If I’m only allowed one item, this would be it. Both my husband and I used this carrier everywhere we went: for daily walks in the neighborhood, when we traveled, and even when I was trying to get things done at home.

2. The Sleep Sack by Kyte Baby

This sleep sack comes in different thickness (different togs), as well as colors and prints. I know there are a lot of variations on Amazon but I felt like the sleep sacks we got from Kyte Baby were still the softest. And I honestly believe the sleep sacks helped my baby sleep better when we started sleep training him, too.

3. The Table & Chairs Set by Lalo

My son actually spends a lot of time using this little table! He plays with his toy cars and Lego sets there, he doodles and reads there, and sometimes snacks there, too. I personally love the design of the chairs because they are stable and don’t tip over easily.

4. The Baby Monitor and Stand by Nanit

We initially used a secondhand baby camera that worked okay but stopped working a few months later. Then we switched to Nanit’s baby monitor and was like “oh my god, we needed this from day one!”

It connects to an app which also gives you a lot of helpful insight and when we travel, we bring the travel flex stand with us, too.

P.S. You can use promo code TriciaC20 for 20% off your order.

5. The Humidifier by Carepod

My husband and I loved this humidifier that we got for our son so much, we ended up getting one for our room, too. It’s amazing because it is very easy to maintain and keep it clean and mold-free. We also just really love the sleek, minimal design.

6. Clear hard plastic zipper cases in various sizes

I got A TON of different organizers and boxes but found these the most useful because they are easy to store and easy to clean. It’s also very easy to find the different toy sets without additional labeling. I also use them when we travel; it’s a great way to keep my son’s toys in one place.

We love this high chair from the very beginning. It’s convertible, too, so it has a longer life span than most high chairs. Like the table and chairs set, the legs of the high chair is designed in a way that makes it more stable and less likely to tip over.

8. The Hip Carrier by Tushbaby

When my son got older and became too big for the Harmony baby carrier, I switched to this hip carrier that comes with lots of pouches, pockets, and even a cup-holder, too. It was so convenient to have with me when we’re out and about, traveling, etc.

I can literally run after my son while applying sunscreen on his face with this stick! It goes on whether your skin is wet or dry, and it’s clear, which I prefer. It also contains Vitamin E, and because it’s so small, I keep one in almost all of our bags.

I also recently came across this cooling mineral sun stick made for kids that is pretty awesome, too.
