4 easy ways to renew your wardrobe this spring
If you are planning a spring cleaning spree, you are certainly not the only one! This is the perfect season to refresh your home and garden, creating a peaceful and enjoyable living space for the months ahead. But don’t forget to spring clean your wardrobe, too!
Over the next few weeks, I will be swapping out heavy winter clothes for lighter, more colorful spring and summer outfits. If you’re considering to do the same, this may just be the right time to refresh your closet, and your style, too!
Let’s look at a few tips on how to help you create a wardrobe collection that reflects your style and make you feel beautiful and confident—without breaking the bank! Read on for more.
Declutter before you start
Did you know that clutter can have a negative impact on mental and physical health alike? Living in cluttered spaces can lead to mental fatigue and stress, and clutter can encourage the accumulation of dust and debris, which contribute to less healthy homes. One of my favorite “de-stress” activities is in fact to simply declutter my desk, my vanity table and of course, my closet.
So, before buying new clothes, it may be worth clearing out the old ones! This not only can be liberating, but it also creates a clearer, more hygienic, and organized wardrobe. During your decluttering spree, organize the pieces you are ready to depart from into three piles: keep, donate and recycle. This way, you're making room for new items and embracing a clutter-free lifestyle!
2. Have a clear goal
A well-thought-out plan is your friend! For example, you may be getting into this project with the idea of increasing storage space or making moving to your new home easier. Or, you may wish to find outfits that make you feel confident and reduce the time it takes you to get ready in the morning.
Whatever the goal, this isn’t a quick process! Be sure to learn about the benefits of creating a capsule wardrobe, and take some time to consider what pieces align with your lifestyle and style preferences. Don’t overlook the potential of versatile pieces! Classic items like a trench coat or pieces that can be worn well into fall may be your best friends in creating a minimalist but stylish wardrobe.
3. Shop mindfully
Being a financially savvy shopper is important, I get it. Finding the best deals without compromising on quality is the best balance — after all, being chic doesn’t have to break the bank! But don’t forget that just because something is “a good deal” doesn’t mean you have to get it. Be mindful of what you’re purchasing and adding to your closet.
Here are a few quick tips to help you save money while securing the best pieces for your style and wardrobe:
Create a custom capsule wardrobe that reflects your unique style.
Shop second-hand for budget-friendly and eco-conscious finds.
Avoid impulse buys by making a thoughtful purchasing plan.
Consider using tools like ModeSens to compare prices and get the best deals.
Sort and declutter old clothes into keep, donate, and recycle categories.
Review and update your wardrobe essentials that go with multiple outfits.
4. Be more sustainable with second-hand pieces
Infusing new life into your wardrobe doesn't mean everything has to be new. After all, over the past years, it has become clear that the fashion industry has a significant impact on the environment. So, as you refresh your wardrobe, consider becoming part of the solution: browse second-hand and vintage stores, apps, and websites, where you can find unique treasures without the hefty price tag. Besides being budget-friendly, this approach reduces your fashion footprint, too.
