Is Abercrombie’s viral bra-free linen dress worth $120?

I know spending $120 on a summer dress can feel like a lot, especially when there are plenty of linen dress options out there. I was hesitant myself when I first saw it. It wasn't until I saw another mom influencer (someone with a postpartum belly like mine) wearing it that I thought, “okay, maybe it's time I give this dress a try, too.” And the moment I tried it on, I immediately understood the hype.

I recently packed it for my trip to Italy and ended up wearing it twice — once in Lake Como and again in Venice. And honestly, that alone tells me it deserves a spot in my wardrobe!

So the short answer is: Yes—for me, absolutely! Read on to find out why.

Venice brown linen summer midi dress

The dress’s best feature: You don’t need a bra!

Let’s start with the biggest selling point: you can actually wear this padded dress without a bra.

And honestly, that’s GOLD during the summer.

On hot days, the last thing I want is another layer, uncomfortable straps, sticky nippies or trying to figure out which bra works with a dress. This dress has a built-in bra with removable pads, which means I can simply throw it on and head out the door.

It’s Surprisingly Flattering

What really sold me, though, was the silhouette. The waistline design creates a beautiful shape without feeling restrictive, and the skirt flows nicely without adding too much volume. It gives that effortless, feminine look that somehow feels both polished and comfortable. It’s one of those dresses that makes you feel put together without trying too hard.

The Brown Color Goes With Everything

I own the brown version, and I genuinely think it’s one of the most versatile colors. The color feels timeless and elevated, and it works for so many occasions. I can dress it down with flat sandals and a straw bag during the day, or add gold jewelry and heels for dinner. That versatility is actually what made it so useful on my recent trip to Italy.

I first wore it in Lake Como, styled with sneakers casually for a day of exploring. A few days later, I reached for the same dress again in Venice, wearing it with nude heels for dinner.

To me, that’s the sign of a great travel piece: something you genuinely want to rewear instead of something that only looks good in photos once.

Thoughtful Details Make a Difference

Besides the bra-free design, there are several details that make this dress stand out:

  • The breathable linen-blend fabric is perfect for warm weather.

  • I love that the straps are adjustable! This allows for a more customized fit.

  • The back smocking provides more comfort, making it less restricting to wear.

  • It’s available in petite length! So the midi length fits me as someone who’s 5’3” perfectly.

  • A flattering, flowy silhouette that works for casual days and dressier occasions.

So, Is It Worth $120?

For me, 100% yes!

Could you find less expensive linen dresses? Absolutely. But very few offer the same combination of comfort, support, flattering design, and versatility. I also love that it isn’t too revealing; I usually prefer dresses that don’t show any cleavage.

The fact that I packed it for Italy and happily wore it twice pretty much says it all. Because the pieces that end up being worth the investment aren't always the ones that sit in your closet looking pretty, they're the ones you reach for over and over again, and this dress has definitely become one of those pieces for me.

The same dress also comes in a cotton version and different color options. I actually just ordered one in ruby red, which I cannot wait to wear!

If you’ve tried the dress or plan to, let me know what you think!
