I tend to pick out the bag of the day last when it comes to putting an outfit together, but I do sometimes find myself looking for clothes that would go with a specific bag. Ever since the city reopened after COVID19 cases have decreased in New York, I’ve been reaching for bags that has more volume because of all the “new essentials” we now need to carry around — from masks and gloves to hand sanitizers.

A few weeks ago I got this beautiful red bucket bag from a brand called Teddy Blake. The bag features premium leather and made in Italy. It’s a perfect medium-size that fits everything and comes with a matching pouch as well. I especially adore the cut-out pattern; it makes the bag more unique and gives it more character. And the best part is: it’s not a heavy bag (my shoulders thank me)!

Personally, I find red bags to be one of the more challenging items to style because red can easily clash with some colors. Wear it with green, and you look like Christmas, for instance. Side note: In my culture, red is actually really well-liked because its considered an auspicious color.

In this post, I’m sharing 4 of my go-to outfit ideas that works flawlessly any red bag; check out the TikTok video to see the looks!

1) Neutral tones

I like styling beige with red because I feel like it’s the best way to add a pop of red to a less colorful outfit. Whether it’s a light tan blazer or a cream dress, pair it with white sneakers for a casual chic weekend look.

2) Pink

This is a bit of a more bold choice for me but I came across a lot of outfits pairing red and pink together on Pinterest and fell in love with this combination. I think it’s a great way to make a statement if that’s what you’re going for!

3) Floral Print with Hints of Red

Another great choice to wear with red bags is dresses or tops with floral prints that have hints of red. This allows the bag to echo the red and tie the whole look together.

4) All Black

You really cannot go wrong with all black — in all cases, in my opinion. It’s especially the easiest when I go monochrome, including the mask!

One other way I really like to wear when I want to use the red bag is a simple white t-shirt plus a pair of plaid pants that come with subtle orange-red lines. The concept is similar to the floral print — I liked that the bag echoed the similar colors in the pants. Finally, I finished the look with white sneakers!
