#GuestBlogger: Styling The Man's Shirt
Hi, everyone!
This week, I've invited guest blogger Lisa of @hilisays to style the man's shirt with me. And yes, we literally took our other half's shirts from their closets for this one!
Oversized buttoned-up shirts have been around for a while now, and yet they're still very much in-trend. We keep seeing designers trying to add a twist to the classic piece on the runways - and to me, that's a sign that they ain't going anywhere anytime soon.
So we decided to each borrow a shirt from the man, and together, style a total of 4 looks for you! I'm sharing 2 of the looks here, and Lisa is sharing the other 2 on her blog.
Lisa's Take on The Man's Shirt
"Hi, everyone! So honored to be the first guest blogger on Happily Ever Style! When Tricia and I talked about doing this series together, we got so excited! With a touch of feminine elements, we get to add a fun flair to our men’s shirts!
I am a petite 5’3, and my boyfriend is a 6’4 giant. So when it comes to the boyfriend shirt, it’s not just slightly big, but 120% oversized! A good thing about fashion is that as long as you wear it with confidence, no outfit can go wrong! So I turned the man’s shirt into MY DRESS. And I rocked it with no shame!
To create an extra edge and give it a touch of bougie, I layered it with a vest and a pair of ankle boots. The tip to look taller in an oversized shirt is to choose a shorter vest to create a higher waistline. To balance the masculinity of the shirt and create a more harmonious rosy tone, I softened it up with my favorite hot pink bag. And voila! There you have it! Hope you like this look, and don’t forget to check out the two other styles Tricia and I styled together with the same shirt on my blog!"

My Take on The Man's Shirt
I decided to wear a ruby red silk top with lace trimmings under the boyfriend shirt (in my case, the hubby’s shirt) because it echoes two things: 1) The current pajama trend, and 2) The signature ruby red autumn color. Luckily, it is in the same color family as the shirt, so the layering didn’t seem too out of the ordinary.
I added a blush obi belt over the shirt to highlight my waistline. On the bottom, I simply wore black leggings and black booties to keep things simple. To complete my entire outfit, I threw on my beige and gold neutral-colored bag.
This outfit is great for running errands or shopping. In fact, I imagine potentially wearing it on the plane, too, because of how comfortable it is!
And that's all for today! I hope you like reading our joint blog posts! Be sure to check out Lisa's page to see the other two looks we've put together.
