The eco-conscious, clean skincare brands you must know
About 2 months ago, in the middle of a pandemic, I learned that a wellcare e-commerce site called Pink Moon opened its online store, featuring a carefully-curated collection of eco-conscious, clean beauty and lifestyle products. Initially, I was really curious about why anyone would start a business in 2020. I soon realized, however, it is in fact the best time for Lin Chen, the founder, to launch Pink Moon, because now more than ever, we have been given the opportunity to really practice self-care, and to learn how to take better care of ourselves. It was also earlier this year, when rivers became clearer, and the air, cleaner, that we were reminded of the importance of looking after our environment.
Pink Moon is also a women-empowering space, featuring female-owned brands. I love that they have hand-picked various products for women in every stage of their lives — from teens to womanhood, from becoming a mother to embracing menopause.
Pink Moon promotes sustainable and ethical beauty brands. While some of the products offer vegan, organic products, others present handcrafted items made in small batches — but most importantly, everything is natural and cruelty-free.
In this post, I’m listing out some of my favorite brands I discovered on Pink Moon that I strongly urge you to check out, too! Read on for more.
The Over the Moon set by Pink Moon includes a made-to-order facial oil and a rose quartz gua sha beauty tool.
The Pink Moon brand itself offers 3 exclusive products: the Lunar Drops Facial Oil, the Rose Quartz Gua Sha Tool, and the Clair de Lune Candle that was created in collaboration with Le Coco Candles.
The organic, antioxidant-rich facial oil goes on your skin silky smooth and does not clog your pores. It features sunflower and moringa oils that helps with inflammations and irritations. Every single bottle is made-to-order and handcrafted by the founder, Lin, herself. I’ve been using this oil with the Pink Moon gua sha tool but it works wonderful alone, too. In fact, it’s multipurpose nature also allows it to be on the ends of your hair as well as on dry cuticles!
In case you thought the candle is just a candle — let me tell you how awesome this product really is. First off, the candle is made of ethically-sourced coconut and apricot wax, which burns cleaner than soy and is more sustainable. Secondly, you can actually use the liquified wax on your skin for a massage after it cools! I personally have never came across such a cool product, so I was blown away. Plus, just look at how cute the pink candle holder is! I can’t wait to reuse it to hold my makeup brushes.
This Facial Polish by Malaya Organics is a gentle exfoliant but it can also double as a mask.
2. Malaya Organics
I’ve tried several products from Malaya Organics, a Brooklyn-based handmade, organic beauty brand. Some of my personal favorites include the Firming Eye Serum, the Herbal Facial Polish, the Cleansing Oil & Makeup Remover.
The vegan Firming Eye Serum is wonderful because it is designed with a stainless steel rollerball applicator that feels so nice and cool when applied. It’s so hassle-free and easy to use. The serum’s formula consists of botanical stem cells, pea peptides, vitamin C-rich kakadu plum, and moisturizing oils that together brightens and de-puffs the eye contour, improves skin firmness, and deeply moisturizes the skin area around your eyes.
I really like the Herbal Facial Polish because you can use it as a gentle exfoliator as well as a purifying face mask! It’s works well even on my sensitive cheeks that tends to go red after exfoliating. My skin becomes so smooth after each use — it’s incredible!
3. Earthwise Beauty
From Spokane, WA, Earthwise Beauty is an award-winning artisanal skincare brand, featuring products that are botanical-based, high-performing and one-of-a-kind.
I haven’t personally used products by Earthwise Beauty yet but there are 2 items on the top of my to-try list: Farizad’s Veil Sun Reflector, and the Hibiscus Herbal Tea.
The Sun Reflector is one of the most sustainable and healthiest natural “sunblocks” that I’ve ever came across or ever heard about. The coolest thing about this product is that in addition to being a sun shield, the blend also offers healing and soothing benefits for the skin. If you have acne breakouts, it can actually keep the infections at bay and speed up the healing time. I’m sure you can understand why it made it to the top of my list?

You’re not alone if you think the Herbal Tea is just “another” ordinary tea product because I originally thought so, too. But I later found out that not only can you drink the tea, but you can also let the tea cool down and use it a a skin splash (this helps tightens pores) or to rinse your hair (which adds shine)! Alternatively, in the winter, you can also brew the tea in a bowl and lean over it for a facial steam — at-home facial to a whole new level, #amIright?

Founded by Chinese Medicine doctors and modern-day alchemists, 5Yina is a holistic organic skincare brand that uses highest-grade, sustainably-sourced herbs to handcraft their products.
One of the products I’ve been eyeing is the Hand Treatment because this nourishing and healing balm also works as an anti-itch cream for mosquito bites! And what makes it even better is it’s eco-friendly packaging, which is a recyclable aluminum tube.
RiseWell’s natural toothpaste is so safe, you can actually eat it!
5. RiseWell
RiseWell is the first natural oral care brand I’ve ever used. It uses clean ingredients to formulate their products that are tested and approved by leading dentists and doctors! RiseWell’s products have also been proven to naturally clean, whiten and protect your teeth.
I got the Mineral Toothpaste for adults, but there is also a version for children. The toothpaste is made of a mineral that makes up over 90% of our teeth and bones and skips all the harsh foaming agents like sulfate. It is also naturally flavored with essential oils like peppermint. It basically is so safe that even if you eat it, it’s okay!
My husband and I used to have our own toothpaste but I could tell recently he’s been stealing some of my RiseWell toothpaste. And honestly, I’m not surprised because I’m personally obsessed with it.
