1 dress, 3 ways: Working from home to running errands

I love versatile pieces that can be styled in multiple ways.

A few weeks ago, I received this elegant handmade cotton dress from slow fashion brand Marta Scarampi. Made of 100% Italian organic cotton, the dress is comfortable to wear, soft to touch, and extremely breathable — plus, it comes with a matching face mask, too!

Because the fit is loose, it is so easy to throw on in the morning as I get ready to work from home or to simply lounge around over the weekend. The length of the dress is just right (I’m 5’4, wearing a size 6) and I love the higher neckline. The bows on each end of the elbow are lovely details that I absolutely adore. But my favorite part is actually the baby blue hue of the checker pattern, which is also used on the matching face mask.

In this blog post, I’m sharing how I’ve been wearing the dress, indoors and in public, and how I plan to wear it as we transition into fall.

Of course, I go for the most comfortable option when I’m at home, wearing the dress as it is. When I go out for a quick stroll, I grab a headband, wear the matching mask and put on white sneakers for a casual outfit. I look put together, but I also feel comfortable and safe! (I’m also keeping others safe by wearing my face mask.)

< Adding A Belt Changes Everything >

My proportion isn’t the greatest — my bottom is short. So most of the times, giving definition to my waist or emphasizing where my waistline is becomes crucial to “adjusting” my proportion. That’s why I own a lot of belts — they allow me to highlight the smallest part of my body and help elongate my bottom half.

So naturally, when I feel the need to give my cotton dress a waistline, I added a belt. I went for a white belt to keep the colors light and airy.

< Getting Ready For Fall >

As fall slowly approaches (are we really saying goodbye to summer, already?), the best way to transition into the cooler days is by layering a light cape over the dress. The cape is also by Marta Scarampi. In fact, the brand is known for their handmade capes and blazers that last for years to come. My mom is a huge fan of their capes and have been wearing the one I bought her for Christmas last year for various occasions.

I like this cream color because it goes really well with the light blue hue of the dress. It also isn’t as “heavily” fall before the season officially arrives.
