Comfortable Blazers for Your Video Call Meetings
It’s been about a month now since my husband and I decided to stay indoors and self-isolate. To be honest, it hasn’t been as easy as I originally thought it would be, although I do already used to work from home a few times a week. If like me, you’ve been feeling down and unmotivated due to being quarantined, check out my previous blog post on 8 ways to uplift your mood.
One of the things that has really been keeping me sane was sticking to my regular “office hours” and continuing working with my clients (I run a boutique marketing agency called Once Upon.) Part of what I do involves speaking to small business owners and meeting new content creators, and I used to do it over coffee mostly, but with #socialdistancing in place, the next best option is of course — video calls!
Since a lot of the people I speak to on Zoom or via FaceTime etc. are either my clients or someone I’m e-meeting for the first time, appropriate attire is still really important to me. I’m a strong believer of “you are how you dressed” so even though it may be understanding for us to dress a lot more casually now, I prefer making effort to look (and be) professional.
Having said that, it’s too extreme to be wearing anything that isn’t at least somewhat comfortable. So what’s the middle ground?
Personally, I’m addicted to blazers. I think they’re the fail-proof go-to options for any occasion and can never be inappropriate. But some blazers are really uncomfortable to wear, especially when they’re tight around the shoulders. So I’m always for the look out for blazer that look great and is easy, comfortable to wear as well.
Recently, I learned about a brand called Urlazh (pronounced /u:la:/) that features a collection of easy and comfortable pieces — and I got really excited because “easy” and “comfortable” were the two key words that I was looking for. Plus, Urlazh gives their clothing unique character by adding fun patterns and using vibrant colors, which makes even the most classic pieces more interesting. As someone who doesn’t like to run into another person wearing the same thing, this to me is a great independent designer to bookmark in my “Fashion” tab.
Earlier this week, I had the opportunity to try on 3 blazers and a vest that I picked out from Urlazh and I wanted to share some of my personal favorites with you!
This is not a sponsored post. The items mentioned in this blog post were sent by the brand’s PR team for try-on’s. All opinion are 100% my own.
This grey blazer features a plaid houndstooth pattern that I’ve recently been adoring, as well as numerous embroidered designs scattered throughout. I love it because it’s a classic style but the embroideries give the blazer a fun and one-of-a-kind personality.
I’m also obsessed with monochrome outfits, and this blazer comes with matching cropped plaid trousers!
I usually wear size 4 or 6 tops and blazers, and the size small I tried on fit me perfectly.
The Blue Plaid Single Breasted Blazer
Another piece I really like is this blue and white plaid pattern blazer that features adorable owl prints throughout! It’s made of 100% cotton so the breathable material makes it really comfortable to wear. Plus, I love that it’s machine washable!
The blue makes the blazer a great choice to wear for spring and summer over light blue jeans or a white monochrome outfit. I’m also a fan of owls so I may be slightly biased.
I also tried a size small and I love the fit!
Off topic a bit because this isn’t a blazer but I really like this white pullover! The material is soft and the abstract art (inspired by Joan Miró) is really cute!
I’ve actually been wearing this at home a lot because not only is it a comfortable sweatshirt, but it’s presentable, too. I wore it a lot when I filmed a few of my TikTok videos! I wore a size small and it fits me fine, but I think I wouldn’t mind going for a size medium.
There are a lot more really cute pieces from the brand’s latest Spring 2020 collection, so if you’re bored at home and looking to score some comfortable but chic and unique pieces, check it out. They’re currently running a site-wide 20% off for a limited time, too!
Whenever possible, especially during challenging times like this one we’re currently in, consider supporting small businesses! In comparison to large corporate companies, it is a lot harder for independent brands to survive the pandemic, so any support would mean a lot to them!
