Fashion hacks you must know

Follow me on Instagram, TikTok or Pinterest

I wouldn’t call myself a fashion guru since I’m constantly learning about trends and styling tips from other fashionistas; in other words, I’m definitely not a trendsetter, but more of a watcher/follower! However, throughout the years I’ve been working in the blogging industry, I found myself accidentally coming up with some fashion hacks that I actually continue to incorporate and find extremely useful. In this blog post, I’m sharing my 2 current favorites!

A stylish alternative to safety pins

A few years ago, I bought a wrap top online and tried it on at home when I received it — it fit me so well, I decided to keep it. But when I wore the wrap top out for the first time one day, I realized it wouldn’t stay in place and would loosen itself when I moved around. It started making me uncomfortable throughout the day as I was constantly checking if my bra was showing or if I was showing too much cleavage. The worst was: I had a meeting with a potential client later that day.

So I looked through my bag to find a safety pin or a bobby pin — just anything that would keep the wrap top in place. And then, I found a pair of studs that I have thrown into my bag a few days ago.

“Hmm… I wonder if this would work.”

And it was perfect!

The stud kept the wrap top in place, and it was barely visible. It actually looked like it was a decorate element that was always supposed to be there in the first place. In fact, that’s how I wore the same top for the next few times, too.

Once I started doing this, I sometimes find myself looking at earring studs differently — imagining them doubling as my new “buttons.” It’s kind of nice knowing I can get more out of the same accessories!

Make your own no-sew bell sleeves

For the past few years, I’ve been trying to be more mindful of what I already have in my closet. I love the sweaters and tops I own but I also developed this obsession with the bell sleeves design I was seeing since it started trending. Instead of buying brand new clothes just for the bell sleeves, however, I decided to see how I could recreate it!

And I don’t know how to sew, by the way, so if I can do it, you definitely can, too.

My hack is to grab a set of matching bracelets (or just 2 different bracelets), preferably ones that are elastic or the wrap-around style. Simply layer them over the sleeves and tighten them around the wrists. Pull the sleeves out a little to give them a flare. You can check out the TikTok video on the left to see how I did it to my blazer!

Currently, my favorite bracelets to use for this hack are the Brooklyn Leather bracelets from Jeff Wan because they’re almost like mini belts that allow you to adjust the tightness. So I can actually use them on blazers, blouses as well as thicker sweaters, too. Plus, they come in SO many colors!

What do you think of these two hacks? Let me know your thoughts!
