How to Incorporate Anti-Aging Products into Your Beauty Routine

Hi, everyone!

This blog post is completed in partnership with NeoStrata; all opinions are my own.

For the longest time, I refused to buy any products with "anti-aging" printed on them. I thought since I'm "still young," those products weren't for me.

But of course, I was wrong. My very wise mother reminded me that it's much easier to prevent signs of aging than it is to get rid of deep fine lines after you've already gotten them. That's true, I suppose. So I decided: Okay, it's time to change the way I think about anti-aging products!

I don't want to complicate or add to my daily skincare routine, however. And you shouldn't have to either. So, instead of adding to my five simple steps, I'm replacing some of the products I normally use.

Swap Out Your Serum

I've recently replaced my original hydrating serum with NeoStrata's Skin Active Tri-Therapy Lifting Serum. I use it in the morning and before bedtime after having cleansed my face and applied a toner.

In addition to moisturizing my skin, the serum is also designed to improve the appearance of skin laxity. The patented Amino Acid derivative called Aminofil targets collagen and firms skin, filling the look of deep wrinkles. It also evens out uneven skin tones, which is a great bonus for me because I have some old acne scars on my face.

I don't have deep wrinkles (yet), but I do have a lot of fine lines around my eyes, especially when I smile. Having used it for about 2 weeks now, I noticed how well-moisturized my skin is throughout the day. The skin around my eyes appears "tighter" and less dull, too.

This serum doesn't irritate my skin and has a light, soothing scent. I love that it is alcohol-free because products that contain alcohol tends to dry my skin and makes my cheeks go red.

Replace Your SPF Day Cream

One thing I cannot leave the house with is sunscreen (yes, even in the winter)! Being exposed to the sun ages your skin quicker so protecting it is a must. Instead of using my usual sunblock under my makeup, I'm now using NeoStrata's Skin Active Matrix Support, an anti-wrinkle day cream with SPF 30.

This formula contains NeoGlucosamine and Retinal which targets our skin's hyaluronic acid to give us firmer skin. It's also created with aims to reduce the appearance of skin discoloration like age spots (I've started to discover some on my cheeks). Meanwhile, the product provides us with UVA and UVB filters that shield the skin from the sun.

I only use this product during the day under my makeup, or sometimes on its own without any makeup. Personally, I love that the cream is non-sticky and it doesn't "whiten" my face like some of the other sunblocks. I find that it goes on my skin very smoothly, too. However, if you're layering foundation over this cream, I suggest you give it a few minutes before you do so to avoid pilling.

Don't Forget Your Back

I'm currently also using the Perfecting Peel from NeoStrata, but on my back instead of my face. Yes, we cannot forget to take care of the skin on our backs! Mostly because summer is around the corner and I want to be sure my back is photo-ready as well.

The peel involves two steps and is formulated with a 20% blend of AHAs, Glycolic Acid, and antioxidant Citric Acid to together deliver high strength antiaging benefits.

In case you didn't know, NeoStrata was in fact recognized globally as the one making the ground-breaking discovery that AHAs have profound beneficial effects on our skin! The founders also discovered that AHA offers additional benefits like enhanced moisturization and antioxidant effects.

The main reason I've been using it on my back is that the peel improves uneven pigmentation and blemishes. I used to suffer from bacne (back acne) so this is really what my back needs. So far, I've only used it twice because you can only use it once a week, but I love that it doesn't irritate or dry out my skin. I apply body lotion soon after each use.

Note: Be sure to use sunscreen on your back if you're going to be out in the sun after using this peel! I'm using it now, way before the summer beach days, to minimize the risk of sun sensitivity.
